This is my take on the Dutch Tool Chest. (The plans for this came from Christopher Schwarz.) This one is basic construction using furniture pine, production hardware, and simple joinery. The hinges and lifts are Lee Valley and give a nice look to the finished chest. As you can see with the chest opened the lid/back had to be grooved to allow the hinge to operate properly. This can be accomplished in several ways; one option is to use a power router, another is to put a chisel to work.
Quick tip: When edge gluing pieces together they tend to slip when the clamp is applied. To help remedy this, sprinkle a little salt into the glue prior to clamping. It works, try it.
